You’ve made the final round, you walk into a senior consultant’s office and he tells you he’s been thinking about writing a book on “Business in China” and retiring from the consulting business.
He wants to know if it’s a good idea and if he’ll make enough money to retire.
What are some important questions to ask when considering if this is a good idea?
Case Study Overview
This is a Strategy& Market Study case study interview with a twist. You are being asked to determine the prospects of writing a book on Chinese Business by the person interviewing you. How will you approach this problem? What questions will you ask and what if the idea doesn’t hold water? How will you handle the moment you have to deliver the news?
In this non-traditional case study, we recommend Market Study (market entry) Framework, but don’t stay stuck there. You will need to allow yourself to work outside the framework and be creative in your approach.
There are no math exhibits in this case. This a beginner level case interview with a qualitative difficulty score of 2 out of 4. This case study is ideal for a first round interview at Strategy&.
